On November 30, 2011, Portage Atlantic welcomed its volunteers to the picturesque theatre room at Cassidy Lake for a holiday brunch, in recognition of all the good work they have done for the organisation over the past year. Staff members and residents honoured the regional board members and other very special volunteers who have actively supported Portage Atlantic’s projects this year, including the Recovery Trail Project, the “Hands On” Landscaping Project, and the Annual Summer Kick-Off Benefit Concert.
Russell King, Chairman of Portage Atlantic expressed a special thank you to Luigi Rocca, who has recently stepped down from the Portage Atlantic Board, for his contribution and involvement with Portage over the years. Mr. Rocca joined Portage as co-chair of the Making Miracles Happen capital campaign in 2006, became a board member in 2008, and a member of Portage’s national finance committee in 2010. Dr. King also acknowledged long-standing board members Marjorie Davidson, Brenda Sansom, and Marie-Claude Blais, for their contributions of time and effort to helping the youth in need at Portage, who have also stepped down from the board in the last few years.
Residents presented each volunteer with a framed certificate as a token of gratitude, while the entire Cassidy Lake community gave them a standing ovation. Following the ceremony, they enjoyed a festive meal with the residents and staff members.
Once again, Portage Atlantic would like to say a big Thank You to all its wonderful volunteers. We look forward to your continuing involvement in 2012.
