About Portage

Several residents and staff members from Portage’s drug rehabilitation centres in Beaconsfield and Prévost took part in an educational activity on biodiversity in Mount Royal Park in October.

In the morning, they participated in a discussion workshop led by Evergreen, a Canadian organisation that subsidises and leads urban greening projects. In the afternoon, they worked with Les Amis de la Montagne to plant trees and cut down invasive plants in targeted areas on Mount Royal.

The activity was a great opportunity for the youth to contribute to an environmental conservation project while discussing the importance and challenges of urban biodiversity.
