Portage is very proud of the confidence that the Québec en Forme’s Courant-Nord partner group has placed in its program to promote healthy lifestyles among adolescents residing at its substance abuse rehabilitation centre in Prévost. With financial support of nearly $20,000, Portage will implement a three-pronged program to teach residents about the importance of physical health, nutrition, and fitness.
In the first phase, through physical activity workshops, youth will be educated about the importance of exercise for their general health. The second phase involves cooking workshops, conducted in collaboration with The Chef Table, to promote healthy eating habits, the impact of good nutrition on physical health, and also how to cook healthy food on a budget. The third component of the program will undertake the fight against tobacco use.
The partnership with Québec en Forme and various community groups in the region will allow Portage to further improve its therapeutic services and enable it to continually offer better services to its residents. Thank you to the Québec en Forme’s Courant-Nord partner group and long live our partnership!
