Several staff members from Portage’s Employment Reintegration Program in Québec City were invited to participate in Emploi-Québec’s 2011-2014 strategic planning consultation session on September 27, 2010.
Emploi-Québec is forecasting serious labour shortages and recruitment challenges in the Capitale-Nationale region in the coming years, largely due to low birth rates and high rates of retirement over the past number of years.
As Emploi-Québec’s partner, Portage’s Employment Reintegration Program was asked to share its outlook and its plans for the future at the planning session.
The centre intends to help solve this regional problem by assisting people who have had problems with drug addiction to re-enter the labor force. Every year, more than 80% of the program’s participants reintegrate into society as active and contributing members of the workforce. Programming at the centre encourages participants to acquire new competencies, skills, and tools that will help them to achieve success in many aspects of their lives.
