About Portage

07-25-2013

At the beginning of July, Portage Saint-Malachie residents worked side-by-side with representatives from the Regroupement forestier de Chaudières-Appalaches to plant the five hundred new oaks and elm trees along the Etchemin River than runs along the centre’s property.

The activity provided residents with an opportunity to practice the teamwork skills that they have been working on at Portage, and to learn about the importance of a healthy forest near riverbeds to prevent erosion and to provide a habitat for wildlife.

They greatly enjoyed the activity and felt proud of their contribution towards fortifying the natural environment around the centre.
