Given that Québec is currently in a provincial election campaign, Portage’s drug addiction rehabilitation centres in the province invited the candidates from their riding to come meet with the residents in treatment.
The residents asked lots of interesting questions and really appreciated the discussions with the candidates. Staff members also used the activity as a way to explain that voting is a democratic right and an important component of being an active and contributing member of society.
Those residents who are of age to vote can now make a more informed choice when they vote on April 7.
The Director General of Elections Québec has arranged for a special voting station be set up at the Portage Prévost centre, so that the adults in treatment can exercise their right to vote more easily.
