About Portage

08-21-2012

Throughout the summer, all Portage Elora residents will have the opportunity to participate in the Portage Outward Bound Summer Camp program. Portage Ontario would like to thank the Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund and the Guelph Community Foundation Summer Camp Fund for their recent generous gifts, which have helped to create wonderful summer camp memories for our youth in treatment who are exploring, learning, swimming, building friendships, and having fun under the sun right now.

The Portage Outward Bound Program is an incredibly therapeutic component of the rehabilitation process at Portage Elora. Seven-day camping excursions to Algonquin Park, day trips to nearby Grand River and Bellwood Lake, and the numerous Outward Bound activities at the Elora centre, such as rock-climbing, hiking, swimming, and overnight camping, force residents to step out of their comfort zone and experience the therapeutic value of being in nature.
