About Portage

Portage Elora residents recently took up an egg drop challenge, working in small groups to try to fashion a protective package for an egg that would prevent it from cracking when dropped from the roof. Each group was given a bag of various materials and the team members were asked to reflect in silence for two minutes on a plan for how they would make it, before beginning to work together on their creation.

The activity sought to help residents practice their problem solving skills through effective communication and healthy conflict resolution. The participants really enjoyed the activity and three out of eight of the teams managed to drop their package without the egg cracking!
