Portage-Québec representatives attended the“Mérite à la formation et à l’emploi” competition on April 18, 2012 at Québec City’s Théâtre Impérial. The purpose of the event, put on by organisations involved in employment, training, immigration and social solidarity, is to recognise individuals who have turned their lives around by successfully completing a training and employment reintegration program in order to get a job.
It was with great pride that two participants of Portage-Québec’s Employment Reintegration Program received their awards, each taking home the first prize of $1,000 for their category. Stéphane Deschênes won for the “General Training and Reintegration Measures” category and Julie Létourneau for the “Secondary Vocational Education” category.
The panel of judges was touched by their stories of courage, perseverance, and faith. As they were awarded their prizes, Stéphane and Julie thanked Portage for helping them to get to where they are today, making it an unforgettable experience for the Portage representatives who were present. Their messages of hope confirm that at Portage, anything is possible.
