About Portage

Once again this year, Portage Beaconsfield sent two staff members and two residents to DESTA’s Black Youth Network Health and Wellness Day in Montréal’s Little Burgundy neighbourhood.

According to DESTA’s 2011 research study on Race, Risk and Resilience, “many Black youth in Montreal are not coping well with the stressors they face and display significantly low levels of resiliency.”  The purpose of its second annual Health and Wellness Day was to provide DESTA members, and the community at large, with information to help them better look after their physical, mental and sexual health.

The Portage representatives talked to members about the dangers of drug addiction and about how it’s possible to get your life back on track through rehabilitation therapy.
