At the beginning of June, Portage Atlantic hosted community breakfasts in Sydney and Truro, Nova Scotia. An engaged and diverse group of community members came out for each of the events to discuss the topic of substance abuse among youth and to learn more about Portage’s drug addiction rehabilitation program at Cassidy Lake.
Attendees appreciated the heartfelt testimonial by Portage Atlantic graduate, Miranda Mullin, who described her struggles with addiction before seeking treatment, and the personal transformation she underwent at Portage.
“Portage Atlantic was a starting point for the best days of my life,” she said. “The staff and residents made some of the hardest things to overcome a little easier with their support. For that I will always be thankful.”
Following a lively question and answer period, Miranda recited the Portage Resident’s Creed to close the event.
