Portage's Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers Program

Portage’s Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers (MICA) centre welcomed partners and representatives from hospitals and centres that work with mental illness to its annual Open House event, which took place during National Mental Health Week on May 5.

Fully adapted to the needs of its clientele, the MICA program helps residents work through their drug addiction problems through the development of skills and competencies which help them take back control of their lives. The program is based on the therapeutic community approach, which encourages individual initiative and peer support.
