Académie Portage - Réussite académique des résidents

Portage staff and residents continue to do great work in the community, spreading awareness about Portage Ontario and the services it offers. Most impactful are the personal stories our residents share with their audiences, who are often even younger than the youth in our program. By telling their stories, our residents hope to make a difference in the lives of these young audiences and prevent them from making poor choices that may negatively impact their lives. Below is a list of some of the speaking engagements and outreach initiatives that Portage Ontario staff and residents have been involved in this spring:

  • Portage residents addressed over 400 students on Mental Health Wellness Day at Kortright Hills Public School
  • Portage residents addressed teachers, guidance staff and senior staff attending the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) Professional Development Day in Orangeville
  • Portage Ontario hosted a meeting of the Youth Service Providers community group representing 36 community partners throughout Guelph/ Waterloo-Wellington LHIN
  • Residents held an outreach activity at the Elora Public School (Grades 7 and 8) and the Centre Wellington High School
  • Portage Ontario held an information session for the Toronto District School Board and its Safe and Caring Schools Program
  • Portage Ontario held an outreach activity with the Family Services Team of the Children’s Aid Society of St. Thomas-Elgin County

We believe no one is better equipped than our residents to talk about the impact drugs had on their lives before they came to Portage to seek freedom from their addiction.
