Portage Ontario is pleased to announce the launch of a new Community Engagement and Volunteer Program at the Portage Elora rehabilitation centre for youth, made possible by a $125,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation over the next two years. This funding will allow Portage to expand volunteer opportunities at the Elora facility and in the surrounding community.
The new Community Engagement and Volunteer Program will seek to identify new and meaningful ways for Portage Elora youth to give back to the community, as well as to involve community volunteers in the Portage program. Through the new program, community volunteers can help enrich the sociocultural programming at Portage Elora by offering to lead supplementary learning and recreational activities such as tutoring, literacy programs, music, yoga, Tai Chi, gardening, team sports, etc.
Volunteers will reap the rewards of assisting the residents and of watching them progress and grow through these activities. If you would like to get involved in this program, please contact Jennifer Blunt, Director of Development, Portage Ontario at 416-531-1333 or at email@example.com.
