Staff members and supporters of Portage’s rehabilitation centre for adolescents in Beaconsfield are doing what they can to make this Holiday Season a happy one for the youth in therapy.
On December 8, the centre organised a Holiday potluck, to which all the residents’ family members were invited. Residents, parents, brothers, sisters, and staff members enjoyed a wonderful community meal together to kick off the Holiday Season.
MUC Police Station 1 Commander Sylvain Doucet and Community Relations Officer Roberto Del Pappa recently visited Portage Beaconsfield, to present a $500 cheque to the centre to go towards holiday gifts for the residents. Portage will use the money to purchase gifts that its residents will use for years to come, such as board games and hockey equipment.
As is now a yearly tradition, Portage Board Member, Brian Evans, and his wife will be visiting the centre dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus. They will be bringing full stocking for each resident and will be sponsoring a dinner for the entire community.
