Representatives from the Puvirnituq-based Inuulitsivik Health Centre made the trip down from Hudson’s Bay in August to visit Portage’s drug rehabilitation centres in the Montréal region. They paid a visit to the centre for adolescents and adults in Prévost, near lac Écho and to the Mother and Child centre in Montréal. They also met with Portage’s president and its executive director, Peter Howlett and Peter Vamos, at the organisation’s head office.
The purpose of the trip was for the Inuulitsivik Health Centre representatives to learn more about Portage’s addiction rehabilitation programs and to explore treatment options for the Nunavimmiut – the Inuits that live in Nunavik.
