October 24, 2010 was a great day of celebration for a hundred graduates from the Portage centres in the Québec City region. The Théâtre de la Bordée was packed with their families and friends, Portage staff members, and other supporters of Portage, who were all there to recognise the men, women, and adolescents who have sought Freedom from Addiction and have finished their rehabilitation programs at one of Portage’s centres in the Québec City region.
Québec’s Minister of Social Services, Mme Dominique Vien, presided over the Recognition Ceremony and delivered a speech of encouragement and congratulations to the graduates. Mr. Yvan Boisvert, a member of the Québec City Campaign Committee, also addressed the graduates, congratulating them on their journey and wishing them continued success and happiness for the future.
The employees of the year for were also named and were presented with commemorative plaques: Stéphane Guimont from the Day Centre, François Thibaudeau from the Employment Reintegration Centre, and Cindy Chabot from the Adolescent Program in Saint-Malachie.
The Portage community celebrated with thunderous applause as each graduate and each person who was celebrating their one year positive lifestyle anniversary free of drugs and alcohol walked onto the stage.
Congratulations to all the graduates and their families on this remarkable achievement.
