About Portage

02-14-2013

For those who have never been directly affected by substance abuse, it’s hard to understand the toll that it can take on an individual, a family, a community.

If you have ever witnessed the rehabilitation process that takes place at Portage, whether directly in your family, through your work, or from a graduate testimonial, you understand the transformative and restorative power of rehabilitation treatment – how it allows individuals to become who they really are meant to be, and how it empowers families and community members to take care of each other.

As we celebrate our 40th birthday today, February 14, 2013, we celebrate the tens of thousands of people whose lives have been touched by Portage since our first treatment centre opened its doors in the small town of Prévost, Québec in 1973.

Thank you to all of those people, who have made Portage such a special place. Thank you to our staff, our board members, and all of our partners and donors for making treatment at Portage possible. A quick look at our Facebook page will show you just how much your contribution has changed and saved lives.
