Saint-Marie-de-Beauce, June 8, 2011 – The 17th annual Portage Golf Open was held on June 6, 2011 at the Club de Golf de Beauce in Sainte Marie. Under the honourary presidency of Richard Fortier, President and Chief Operating Officer at Desjardins Financial Security, the event raised a total of $60,000, which was presented to Portage. Since its inception, this event has brought in more than $600,000 for Portage centres in the Québec City region.

Portage would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the tournament’s participants and major sponsors – Ameublements Tanguay, Bell Canada, Cominar Real Estate Investment Trust, CGI, Desjardins Financial Security, IBM Canada Ltd., La Capitale Financial Group, le Journal de Québec, The Desjardins Group, Samson Bélair/Deloitte & Touche – as well as the generous donors, the organising committee, and the volunteers who helped make the event a success.

The Portage Golf Open in Saint-Marie is put on to support the rehabilitation program for adolescent boys and girls at the Portage treatment centre in Saint Malachie. The centre can accommodate forty young people, ages 14 to 18, from Eastern Québec. It is the only residential rehabilitation centre that offers an educational component throughout medium and long-term rehabilitation treatment. Portage has an unrivalled success rate in helping people overcome their substance abuse issues.
