December 16, 2015 was a rewarding evening for the Portage Atlantic drug addiction rehabilitation centre for youth, which had been nominated by the Kings County chapter of 100 Women Who Care for their quarterly donation.
100 Women Who Care is based on the simple concept of bringing together 100 local women who want to make a large impact within their community. Each registered member commits to attending four meetings per year, at which they will donate $100 to a local charity. Three charities are invited to attend each meeting to present their cause and their needs, and the women vote for the one that resonates the most with them.
Portage Atlantic was honoured to be invited to their meeting in December and is very proud to have been chosen as the winning charity, taking home $9,200 for the youth in drug addiction rehabilitation treatment. It was a very rewarding experience for the Portage Atlantic resident who participated in the presentation by telling her story to the audience.
Portage Atlantic enjoyed learning about this wonderful organisation and is very grateful to its members.
