Montreal, October 29, 2017 – Today Portage hosted the 44th edition of its Recognition Ceremony for all its graduates of the Greater Montreal area, in the Théâtre Maisonneuve of la Place des Arts. This year, 214 graduates completed their rehabilitation program and courageously headed into the future with a sober, healthy and positive lifestyle.

Along with Portage partners, the graduates’ families, friends, and case managers proudly gathered to see them receive their diplomas. The graduates come from Portage’s five addiction rehabilitation programs in the Greater Montréal region: three at the lac Écho campus (for adults, francophone adolescents, and anglophone adolescents) as well as the Mother & Child Program and the Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers (MICA) Program.

« For this new chapter of your life, may you cherish your dreams and do all it takes to make them happen. May you have endeavors as great as your ambitions, and I hope that every day, happiness comes to you and to those you care about. You are amazing models for all of us and powerful ambassadors for Portage, » stated Mr. Peter Howlett, President of Portage. He also took the opportunity to recognize all the staff members, who work tirelessly with the residents.

The ceremony also featured musical performances from the band Baron Samedi and from the Portage choir, comprised of 18 residents and employees. Éliane Gagnon, actor and founder of Soberlab, offered a touching testimonial. The ceremony concluded with a shower of balloons and diplomas on a stage full of graduates – happy, strong and hopeful for the future.
