Montréal, April 13, 2016 – Portage is proud to announce that the 12th Edition of the Soirée des Grands Philanthropes – Tribute to Jean-Guy Desjardins won the award in the category Best Fundraising Event for a community based organization in Canada at the 19th Canadian Event Industry Awards in Toronto on Thursday, March 31st. Winning this award for a second year in a row in the same category is a tremendous honour. Members of the Jury selected the winner among hundreds of entries across Canada.
Portage wishes to thank Mr. Jean-Guy Desjardins, Chairman and CEO, his team at Fiera Capital Corporation and the Honourary Committee for their determination and enthusiasm, which made it possible for Portage to receive this award.
The 12th Edition of the Soirée des Grands Philanthropes was another outstanding success, raising a net amount of 1.4 million dollars. All funds were dedicated to Portage’s drug addiction rehabilitation programs in Québec.
Since 1973, Portage has helped tens of thousands of people overcome their substance abuse issues. The organisation offers a multitude of services tailored to the needs of adults, adolescents, pregnant women and mothers with young children, and people with mental illness. Portage operates drug addiction rehabilitation treatment centres in Québec, Ontario, and New Brunswick.
