Montréal, June 11, 2007 – The 10th annual Portage Open Golf Tournament held on June 11 at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac was a great success. The event raised $150,000 and a cheque in that amount was presented to the organisation by Mr. Alban D’Amours, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mouvement des caisses Desjardins and Honorary Chairman of the Tournament. Since its first year, the Portage Open Golf Tournament has raised over $1 million.
Portage is very grateful to all the participants, sponsors, generous donors, Organising Committee and volunteers who contributed to the realisation of this event, and to everyone whose generosity will help to give those who want to break free of drugs a second chance in the hope of a better life.
Since it was founded 34 years ago, Portage has helped over 30,000 individuals to overcome drug addiction. Today, the organisation offers a variety of programs tailored to the beneficiaries’ needs at its 10 centres across the country.
