Dear friends of Portage,

Over the last few weeks, Portage has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. This virus causes respiratory infections with symptoms of fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing. At this time, the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low for the general population of Canada.

Please know that Portage is doing everything in its power to ensure that residents can continue their therapy in a safe and healthy environment. We are striving to maintain all of our services following initiatives set out by our government. With this in mind, we want to keep you informed about the quality and safety of the actions implemented in this exceptional context.

Our residents, their families, and our employees’ protection is our top priority. We continue to respect the hygiene guidelines in place in our treatment centers, as well as our administrative offices. Hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed in all appropriate locations. Additionally, all residents and employees have been informed and made responsible for basic and respiratory hygiene. Excluding exceptional cases, all visits and outing requests are suspended until further notice.

If you or one of your family members has traveled outside of Canada in the past 3 weeks, please be sure to let us know over the phone, before showing up for an in-person visit at one of our centres. If you are experiencing any symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing), please implement selfisolation at home as soon as possible and contact:

• Quebec: 1 877-644-4545

• Ontario: 1 866-797-0000

• New Brunswick: 811

Portage is closely monitoring the progression of this pandemic and will keep you informed on any new information.

Thank you,

The Portage Team
