On October 30, 2024, Moisson Montréal celebrated 40 years of solidarity and support in the fight against food insecurity at its Recognition Gala at the Montréal Casino. This landmark event brought together 300 guests, including donors, partners, volunteers, as well as committed employees and ambassadors who have actively contributed to Moisson Montréal's mission for four decades.

Among the honorees of the evening, Patrick Lord, counsellor at Portage for the past two years in the adult day centre in Montréal, received the Volunteer Ambassador Award for his exceptional commitment. For years, Patrick has accompanied the residents of the Portage Day Centre in regular volunteer initiatives with Moisson Montréal. In total, approximately 3,000 hours have been devoted to volunteer actions with Moisson Montréal over the past 18 months.

Moreover, the Portage Day Centre, led by Patrick, has accumulated no less than 1,344 hours of volunteering in 2023-2024, representing 15 visits to lend a hand to Moisson Montréal. And that's not all, since last April, the residents and Patrick have been volunteering twice a month and have already exceeded 1,500 hours of volunteering. By participating in activities such as sorting food donations and preparing baskets for community organizations, the Portage residents strengthen their self-esteem, find a sense of personal accomplishment, and develop a meaningful connection with the community.

This award presented to Patrick is a recognition of his dedicated work, which on a daily basis, creates bridges between Portage's services and Moisson Montréal. He inspires both his colleagues and the beneficiaries with his selfless commitment and his willingness to support the most disadvantaged. Patrick's recognition at this event testifies to the concrete impact of Portage in the community, highlighting the essential collaboration between the two organizations to provide significant support to those in need.
