On March 19, 2018, Portage Atlantic female residents, accompanied by social worker, Melanie Steeves, were invited to a speaking engagement and dinner organized by the Sussex Women’s Network.
The girls who attended shared their touching personal stories and Melanie described aspects of the distinct phases of the Portage residential rehabilitation treatment program, as well as the structure and the services offered at the Portage Atlantic Cassidy Lake centre.
The ladies from the Sussex Women’s Network also took turns telling their life story! This was much appreciated by the Portage Atlantic residents.
The Sussex Women’s Network is a group of ladies in the Sussex, NB area who come from a multitude of different backgrounds: nurses, teachers, etc. They come together to support different non-profit organizations that operate in the area. The female residents were thrilled to receive gifts from the group (socks, journals, craft supplies, etc.)
