On June 19, Portage celebrated four of its Montreal English-speaking program residents (West Island) for their success during the school year.
To many, the Graduation Ceremony is like the icing on the cake; a consecration, a reward for all the efforts made, a window on the future. This crucial moment in the life of our youth represents another step towards adult life for them. Portage’s Graduation Ceremony for its anglophone residents brought together family members, relatives as well as members of the Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier School Board. Of this School Board, Paolo Galati, President, Frederic Greschner, Vice-President, and Michael Quinn, Assistant to the Pedagogic Services, attended the Ceremony.
The graduates, each wearing the
traditional graduation gown and the legendary squared cap, were honored for the
completion of their secondary education. Following an emotional allocution, the
class’ valedictorian received a laptop and was awarded the School Board’s
Citizenship Award, which came with a $500 gift.
Portage is proud of its residents’
academic success. Each year, the Montreal English-speaking adolescents program
helps hundreds of teenagers overcome addiction. These young graduates are an
endless source of inspiration to many of them. Congratulations to them.
