Over the last several weeks, Portage has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Designated an essential service, Portage has adapted its services to prevent the spread of the virus in accordance with directives set out by Health Canada.

Over the last several weeks, Portage has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic. Subsequently, all recommendations issued by the public health sectors have been implemented rapidly.

To do this, all Portage employees are involved and committed to the implementation of the necessary preventative measures and apply them with remarkable diligence. Undeterred by this worldwide crisis, the dedication brought forth by all clinical and support staff, as well as managers, and the residents and families of Portage have facilitated the maintenance of all activities in a positive atmosphere that is still respectful of its mission.

The protection of our residents, their families, and our employees is our top priority.

Please know that Portage is doing everything in its power to ensure that residents can continue their therapy in a safe and healthy environment. We are striving to maintain all of our services following initiatives set out by our government. With this in mind, we want to keep you informed about the quality and safety of the actions implemented in this exceptional context.

We continue to respect hygiene guidelines in our treatment centers, as well as our administrative offices. Hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed strategically throughout all of the centres. All residents and employees have been informed and made responsible for complying with basic hygiene measures. As an additional precautionary measure, all employees have their temperature taken every day upon arrival. They then complete an inclusive health questionnaire to evaluate their condition, before having any direct contact with the residents in the centre.

All visits and outing requests are suspended until further notice, excluding exceptional cases.

Pre-admission groups, aftercare groups, and family and friend group meetings will now take place through the online communication platform Zoom, until further notice. All centres have access to an online video platform so that our residents have the opportunity to stay in touch with loved ones whilst ensuring a safe environment for all.
