With a very generous donation from the late Dr. William Lewis, Portage Atlantic has been planning for the Lewis Fitness Centre Capital Campaign, which seeks to raise additional funds for the construction of a brand new fitness centre to be built on-site for the youth in substance abuse treatment at Cassidy Lake.
At Portage, recreation and physical activities help residents to focus and be more attentive to the therapeutic community and the addiction rehabilitation treatment process. Through regular participation in physical activities many of the youth rediscover activities and sports that they once enjoyed, but had abandoned because of their drug use.
