As an accounting technician, your mission is to actively participate in the complete accounting cycle. Under the director’s responsibility, your role is to ensure that the financial statements reflect a true and sincere picture of the organization’s financial situation according to the Accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (ASNPO).
Compile and analyze financial data to prepare periodic financial statements
Make adjusting entries (depreciation, provisions, prepaid expenses, etc.)
Verify the accuracy and compliance of the accounting balances before the closing of the periods
Ensure that all transactions (revenues, expenses, salaries, etc.) are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
Produce detailed financial reports for management or stakeholders
Analyze the discrepancies between actual results and budget forecasts
Prepare tax returns
Provide technical and operational support to employees responsible for accounts payable, receivable, and payroll to ensure the smooth execution of monthly and annual closings
Provide accounting support to the various departments of Portage
Prepare the required documents for the interim and year-end accounting audit
Related tasks: Performs other tasks at the request of the immediate supervisor.
College diploma in Accounting (DEC) related to the position or university degree (or in the process of obtaining it)
Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar position
Knowledge of the complete accounting cycle
Proficiency in Excel and good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite Microsoft Office
Knowledge of SAGE (ACCPAC) software, Concur (an asset)
Bilingual: French and English (an asset)
Initiative, flexibility, sense of priorities and organization
Aptitudes in interpersonal relationships and teamwork
Job Type: permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week
Schedule: day shift– Monday to Friday
