Chaired by Mr. Guy Nadeau, General Manager at Desjardins Business, the 2nd Edition of the “Huîtres en affaires” event took place in a friendly atmosphere on April 12th. Over 400 guests gathered at the Metropolitan Anjou Golf Club and enjoyed a wide variety of oysters from La Boîte aux Huîtres.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly Felix’s moving testimony, a young man who benefited from Portage services:

“I had lost everything before I came to Portage: my family, my friends and anyone else I cared about. I fell in with the wrong crowd and I used on a regular basis, losing any ambition I had. I felt terribly alone. Counselors at Portage and my therapy brothers helped me rebuild broken relationships with my family and regain control of my life. My stay at Portage allowed me to get to know and love myself as I am, in addition to giving me the proper tools to face daily challenges.”

In fact, this young man is the recipient of the new Portage scholarship program offered through the generosity of the Desjardins Foundation.

The event was a great success for a second consecutive year and helped raise $88,000 for Portage and The Desjardins Foundation. The amount given to Portage will be dedicated to the scholarship program to help young people like Felix regain self-confidence and reach their full potential. Portage would like to thank Desjardins for believing in the future of our young residents.
